Produced with the Arnold family’s approval by the experienced fine-art printer and restorer Danny Pope, whose work Eve Arnold herself personally endorsed. Danny is the founder of Matchless Prints Ltd, and the first printer to use the “painting with light” method on Polapan transparencies, which revolutionised colour prints and influenced colour photography’s rise.
Central to his process is premium archival paper, and his proprietary “spot varnished” finish. Bridging traditional and digital methods, he visualises grain as essential, and controls light and colour meticulously.
Danny clones grain digitally, preserving details to prevent shadows and highlight distortion. He prioritises restoration, creating “straight prints” while maintaining authenticity and the photographers’ vision. His large format digital prints push boundaries, infusing images with life, adding dimension and emotion, and elevating photographs beyond their stillness.
